Is it beneficial to eat jamun seeds?

Regarding this question, the doctor says, 'An element called Jambolin is found in the seeds of jamun, which can help in absorbing sugar and preventing it from entering the blood. Some research reports also suggest that making a powder of the dried seeds of jamun and taking it with water on an empty stomach in the morning can help in controlling blood sugar. But it is very important to pay attention to one special thing while taking it.'

This mistake can worsen your health

Dr. Swapnil Shikha says, many people believe that diabetes will be completely cured by consuming more berries and its seeds. However, this is a dangerous misconception. Jamun also contains natural sugar. In such a situation, if it is eaten in large quantities (like 20-25 berries at a time), then it can increase blood sugar further. Similarly, the seed powder should also be taken in limited quantity (about half a teaspoon) and no herbal supplement should be consumed without the advice of a doctor.

The right way and time

Doctors recommend eating half a teaspoon of jamun seed powder as a mid-day snack between lunch or heavy meals. Avoid taking this powder in more than this quantity. Doctors say that jamun and its seeds can be beneficial for diabetes patients, provided they are consumed in limited quantity and in the right way. Also keep in mind that jamun or its seeds are not a medicine, but a supportive food. Use it with the advice of a doctor and never make it a substitute for medicines.
