IPL 2025: While Delhi Capitals started fast in IPL 2025, by the end the rhythm got completely spoiled. After winning four matches at the beginning of the tournament, it seemed that the team would be a strong contender for the playoffs, but as the matches progressed, the weaknesses started emerging. Especially the results that came out despite heavy investment in the fast bowling department raised questions on the strategy of the team management.
Chance in only one match after spending crores
The bowler we are talking about is none other than T Natarajan. Delhi Capitals had placed a big bid of Rs 10 crore 75 lakh on Natarajan in the mega auction. The team hoped that this bowler would wreak havoc in the death overs along with Mitchell Starc.
However, in the entire season of IPL 2025, T Natarajan got a chance to play only two matches, out of which he bowled in only one match. During this, neither did he get any wicket nor could he trouble the opposition batsmen with his line-length.
When he was handed the ball in the match played against Gujarat Titans on 18 May, he conceded 49 runs in three overs and could not take any wicket. In this match, Delhi had to face a crushing defeat by 10 wickets.
T Natarajan bowled only 18 balls in the entire season and could not make any impact. Despite such a huge investment, when a player bowls only once and gets badly beaten in that too, it definitely proves to be a loss deal for the team.
Under the leadership of Axar Patel, Delhi Capitals won 7 out of a total of 14 matches, lost 6 and one match was inconclusive. With 15 points, the team finished fifth in the points table and was out of the playoff race.
Management will have to review strategy
After IPL 2025, DC will have to review its strategy in the fast bowling department. After spending lakhs and crores, if the players are unable to perform on the field, then the balance of the team is bound to deteriorate. It will be interesting to see how DC improves in the upcoming season.
