The remaining 13 group stage matches of IPL 2025 including the final, qualifier and eliminator will now be played from May 17 to June 3. All these matches will be held in only 6 cities.

As expected, as soon as the tension between India and Pakistan subsided, BCCI released a new schedule for the remaining matches of IPL. The remaining 13 group stage matches including the final, qualifier and eliminator of IPL 2025 will now be played from May 17 to June 3. However, while announcing the new schedule, BCCI has also surprised with one of its decisions. And that decision is related to not holding IPL 2025 matches in 5 cities of India. Under the new schedule, matches will be played in only 6 cities of India.
Why are IPL 2025 matches 'banned' in these cities?
Now the question is why IPL 2025 matches were banned in those 5 cities of India? The answer to this is that those cities are close to the border. In the new schedule, BCCI has selected those 6 cities for organizing the matches, which are far away from India's international border. Which are not adjacent to the border of any neighboring country.
Now IPL 2025 matches will be held only in these 6 cities
Now the question is, which are those cities where BCCI has decided not to hold IPL 2025 matches in future? IPL 2025 matches were earlier seen to be held in Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Chennai, Dharamsala, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Mullanpur, Visakhapatnam and Guwahati. Out of these 13 cities, now only 6 venues will host IPL 2025 matches. Those 6 places are Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
Why are there no further matches in Dharamsala?
Among the remaining cities, Visakhapatnam and Guwahati are not of much importance because not many matches were held there anyway. Dharamshala is also the second base of Punjab Kings, but it becomes important because the match was going on here, which was hastily cancelled due to increased tension between India and Pakistan. Dharamshala is also not very far from India's international border, due to which BCCI decided not to hold further matches here.
IPL 2025 matches will not be held in these cities either
Apart from Dharamsala, there will be no further matches in Chennai, Mullanpur, Kolkata and Hyderabad. Chennai, Mullanpur and Kolkata are cities adjacent to India's international border. Another reason for not holding matches in Chennai and Hyderabad is the poor performance of the teams of those cities in IPL 2025. They are already out of the playoff race.
