HAL signs deal with US company to supply engines for Tejas Mk1A
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited: A deal has been signed between 'Maharatna' company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and American company General Electric Company. This agreement between the two companies is for the supply of 113 units of F404-GE-IN20 engines and a support package. These engines will be for 97 Tejas Mk 1A aircraft, for which the company has recently received an order. In its filing on November 7, the company stated that an agreement was signed in September 2025 for the indigenous Tejas fighter aircraft LCA Mk 1A. The supply of engines for this aircraft will take place between 2027 and 2032.
Received a major order from the Ministry of Defence
In September, the Ministry of Defense placed an order with HAL worth ₹62,370 crore (approximately $1.6 billion) to purchase Mk 1A aircraft for the Indian Air Force. Previously, in February 2021, the Ministry of Defense signed a ₹48,000 crore (approximately $1.6 billion) deal for the purchase of 83 Tejas Mk 1A jets. This is the company's second contract. HAL has signed a deal with GE to supply engines for 97 Tejas Mk 1A aircraft. Officials stated that the supply of F404-GE-IN20 engines under this deal will begin in 2027 and be completed by 2032.
Hindustan Aeronautics' share price has gained 11.07% so far this year. HAL is scheduled to announce its Q2FY26 results on November 12th.

Large-scale investments are being made to achieve this goal. The order for 97 Tejas Mk1A aircraft placed with HAL is a step in this direction.
The Tejas Mk1A is the Indian Air Force's state-of-the-art fighter jet, equipped with a highly advanced radar system capable of detecting targets within 150-160 kilometers. Its payload capacity is up to 3,500 kilograms and it can reach a speed of 2,000 kilometers per hour. It is a 4.5-generation multi-role combat aircraft.
