How To Make Restaurant-Style Egg Curry At Home: The taste of restaurant-style egg curry can easily be achieved at home. Many people assume that the thick and rich taste of restaurant-made egg curry comes only from cream, cashews, or expensive spices, but that's not the case at all. With the right masala preparation and a few simple precautions, a delicious, hotel-style egg curry can be made with common ingredients at home.
What is needed to make delicious egg curry?
The special feature of this recipe is that it combines boiled eggs with onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, and coriander leaves to form the spice base. Kashmiri red chili powder, turmeric, and garam masala add vibrant color and flavor to the curry. Whole ingredients like bay leaves, cinnamon, cloves, green cardamom, and green chilies enhance its aroma.
Keep this in mind while boiling eggs
To ensure perfectly hard-boiled eggs, bring the water to a full boil. Then, slowly lower the eggs into the water and cook over medium-high heat for about 12 minutes. Immediately after boiling, place them in cold water for 10 minutes. This will make the shells easier to peel and give them a better texture.
Keep these things in mind while making curry.
The true flavor of a curry lies in its spices. So, cook onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, and whole spices until they turn a light golden color. Then, grind them into a smooth paste. Now, fry this paste thoroughly in oil over low heat. When the oil begins to separate from the sides of the spices, the gravy is ready. This step is crucial for achieving a hotel-like aroma and taste. Don't use too little oil in this recipe, as cream or cashews are not being used.
What should be done while mixing the two?
The way you add eggs to the gravy also impacts the flavor. Instead of adding whole eggs, cut them in half and add them to the curry. This coats the eggs well with spices, adding a rich flavor to every bite. If you'd like to vary this curry, you can use paneer, mushrooms, or your favorite vegetables instead of eggs. Paneer is best added last, while mushrooms and vegetables should be lightly cooked beforehand and then added to the gravy. For a richer flavor, you can add 1 to 2 tablespoons of fresh cream at the end. You can also grind 6 to 8 cashews with the spices to make the gravy even creamier.
