Amazon Alexa Plus

It's been nearly eight years since Alexa arrived in India, but now Amazon has introduced a new AI avatar for its voice assistant. The company has launched Alexa+ in India, which is smarter than the old Alexa and designed to understand natural conversations and complex requests.

Alexa+ launched in India for free and at launch, it can understand and speak Hindi and Hinglish. According to Amazon, support for other languages will be added in the future. India is the first country where Alexa+ is integrated with Amazon's quick-commerce platform, Amazon Now.

Alexa+ launched for free in India.

According to Amazon, Alexa+ is available free to all users in India starting today. No subscription will be required during Early Access. Even after Early Access ends, Alexa+ will remain available to Prime members at no additional cost.

Conversation will be in Hindi and Hinglish.

A major India-specific feature of Alexa+ is its language support. According to the company, it can understand and respond to users in Hindi and Hinglish at launch. Amazon has also confirmed that it will add support for more languages in the future.

Exclusive integration of Alexa+ and Amazon Now

In India, Alexa+ is integrated with Amazon Now. Through this, if the user indicates the item they need during a conversation, Alexa+ can add it to their Amazon Now cart. However, the item will not be automatically ordered. The user will need to provide voice confirmation to complete the order.

Alexa+ will understand the context of the conversation.

The new Alexa+ is designed for more natural conversations. If a user makes multiple requests in a single conversation, the Assistant can understand the context of previous requests, eliminating the need to repeat the same information over and over again. It can also personalize subsequent conversations by remembering user preferences and important details.

In addition to answering questions, Alexa+ can also help control compatible smart home devices and perform various tasks on supported services. Alexa+ will be built into Amazon's latest consumer hardware, including its new Fire and Echo devices.
