Foreign earnings are boosting the Indian economy, with the largest inflow coming from the US – report.

Global Remittance List: India received approximately $137 billion in foreign remittances in 2024. This makes India the only country to surpass the $100 billion mark.

India Tops Global Remittance List: India has once again topped the list of countries receiving foreign remittances. According to the latest report for the year 2024, India has topped the global remittance list. According to World Bank estimates, India will receive over $137 billion in remittances from the Indian diaspora in 2024, a significant increase from the previous year, 2023.

India dominates the report.
With the release of this new report, India has become the only country to surpass the $100 billion mark. According to the International Organization for Migration's World Migration Report 2026, released on Tuesday, India continues to top the list. Mexico is second, followed by the Philippines and France at third and fourth.


India's foreign remittances have steadily increased over the years, from $53.48 billion in 2010 to $68.91 billion in 2015. This figure then rose to $83.15 billion in 2020, and is now projected to reach $137.67 billion in 2024 .

Indians living in the US contribute the largest share
of remittances to India. Additionally, significant amounts of money flow to India from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait. Indians living in the US working in IT, healthcare, and other sectors are the largest contributors to remittances to India, driving this growth.
