Election Commission lawyer Rakesh Dwivedi said that the list has been submitted to every political party, but no one is coming forward to the Election Commission on their own. NGOs in Delhi are making the noise.

Following the release of the final list of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) conducted in Bihar, a demand was made in the Supreme Court on Tuesday (October 7, 2025) that the names of the 3.66 lakh people removed from the list be made public. The petitioners claim that no notices were sent to any of them, and their names were removed based on objections from others. The court asked the petitioners what they were representing, pointing out that some would not even come to court if their names were removed from the list.
A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi was hearing the case. Senior advocates Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Prashant Bhushan appeared for the petitioners. Prashant Bhushan stated that a review of the final list revealed that it complicated the situation. He stated that a large number of people were excluded in the name of voter list correction. Abhishek Manu Singhvi also stated that people were not informed of the removals, nor were they given an opportunity to appeal. Advocate Vrinda Grover also stated that the information available on the Election Commission's website is unclear and does not provide information by gender or age.
Some aliens won't even come to court if their names are removed from the voter list, says Justice Suryakant.
According to a report in The Hindu, Justice Suryakant asked advocate Prashant Bhushan who the petitioners were doing this for. He said, "There are some aliens here who won't even raise their voice for their names to be removed from the voter list. They won't come to court. So, Mr. Bhushan, who are you doing all this for?" Justice Suryakant's bench was hearing the case. Justice Suryakant said, "We don't want this matter to become an uncontrolled inquiry."
What did the Election Commission say?
Responding to these arguments by the petitioners, Election Commission lawyer Rakesh Dwivedi stated that every voter was informed. He added that everyone is making arbitrary claims, so affidavits should be taken from them. Rakesh Dwivedi added that last time, Yogendra Yadav brought some people to court. No one is showing accountability.
Rakesh Dwivedi said, "We have submitted the list to every political party. No one is approaching the Election Commission on their own. NGOs in Delhi are making noise. They haven't even filed an application challenging the final list yet. They are arguing the same old petition. The elections have been announced. We have to make arrangements for this."
During this, Advocate Ashwin Upadhyay demanded that all cases be transferred to the Patna High Court. Senior Advocate Vijay Hansaria said that the petitioners make certain statements here, and then a hue and cry is raised outside about "vote theft."
