Election Commission takes major decision ahead of Bihar elections, issues directives to agencies.

The Bihar Assembly elections will be held on November 6 and 11, and the results will be declared on November 14. The Election Commission has issued strict instructions to enforcement agencies to prevent the misuse of money, alcohol, drugs, and freebies.

The Election Commission of India has issued strict instructions to enforcement agencies regarding the Bihar Assembly elections and by-elections in eight assembly constituencies. The Commission aims to prevent the misuse of money power, freebies, drugs, and alcohol in elections.

 

The Election Commission said that instructions have been issued to all the concerned agencies, including State Police Department, Income Tax Department, State Liquor Department, RBI, CGST, SGST, DRI, ED, NCB, RPF, CISF, SSB, BCAS, AAI, Postal Department, State Forest Department, and State Cooperative Department to ensure compliance with the election rules.

 

Election Expenditure Observers will monitor candidates' election expenditures. They will visit their respective constituencies to meet with all expenditure monitoring teams and ensure regular expenditure reporting. The Commission has also directed flying squads, surveillance teams, and video surveillance teams to be on alert 24/7.

The Commission has activated the Election Seizure Management System (ESMS) to enable enforcement agencies and flying squads to report real-time seizures made during the elections. Since the election notification, various agencies have seized cash, liquor, drugs, and freebies worth a total of ₹33.97 crore.

What did the Election Commission say?

The Election Commission stated that the public should not face any inconvenience or harassment during enforcement action. People can use the C-Vigil App to report any violations.

Deputy Director Pawan said, "Our aim is to ensure clean and fair elections. All enforcement agencies are alert and will take immediate action on any irregularities during the elections."

When are the assembly elections in Bihar?

The dates for the Bihar Assembly elections have been announced. This time, the elections will be held in two phases. The first phase of voting will be held on November 6th and the second phase on November 11th. Voting and results will be counted on November 14th. The nomination process for candidates has also been finalized. The last date for filing nominations for the first phase is October 17th, while the last date for filing nominations for the second phase is October 20th. The dates for withdrawal of nominations have also been announced. This is October 20th for the first phase and October 23rd for the second phase.
