Chinese Smartphone Sales in India: Sales of Chinese smartphone companies have declined in India.

Chinese Smartphone Sales in India: Chinese smartphone companies have suffered a major setback in India. According to a Counterpoint Research report, sales of Chinese smartphone companies declined in the June quarter, reaching their lowest level since 2020. Sales for these companies declined by 10 percent year-on-year in the June quarter. Rising costs of memory chips and other components are making phones increasingly expensive . This inflation has impacted phone sales.

Sales of these companies decreased.

According to the report, companies like Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Realme, OnePlus, iQoo, and Poco are experiencing declining sales. These companies typically generate significant sales in the affordable segment, and the memory crisis has now impacted this segment the most. Rising phone prices are causing customers to postpone purchasing their phones. In light of this, many companies have begun focusing on 4G portfolios to offer new options to customers seeking affordable phones.

Fears of further decline in sales

Counterpoint Research believes that sales pressure will continue throughout this year, and total shipments could decline by 13 percent in 2026. The biggest reason behind this is the rising cost of memory chips. In less than a year, memory chips have quadrupled in price. This is why companies are not only increasing the prices of new phones but also those of already launched smartphones . Recently, several Chinese companies, including Nothing, Vivo, and Realme, have increased the prices of their already launched phones.

Phones are getting more expensive every month

2026 has brought price hikes for the smartphone market. Mobile phones have been getting more expensive almost every month this year. A report released last month stated that phone prices have increased by approximately 8 percent in the first five months of this year. Compared to last year, in 2025, the prices of 47 models increased and those of 44 decreased. However, this year so far, approximately 80 models have become more expensive, while the prices of only 18 have decreased. Even during the festive season, there is no hope of relief from these price hikes, and the chances of discounts from companies are also low.
