There's a big update for LPG consumers across the country. Starting August 1st, not only will  the price change, but there will also be changes to the e-KYC and delivery process. Government companies like Indian Oil (Indane), Hindustan Petroleum (HP Gas), and Bharat Petroleum (Bharat Gas) have made some changes to the rules regarding this. Changes have also been made to the LPG booking time and rules regarding PNG connections, in addition to LPG. From a certain date, some changes will be seen in the delivery of gas cylinders to your home. 

What will change from August 1?

Big change in prices

Public sector oil companies announce the prices of domestic and commercial cylinders on the 1st of every month, based on the global price of crude oil. Commercial and domestic gas prices have fluctuated significantly over the past few months. One such significant change will be seen on August 1st. A price difference can be seen between commercial and 14.2 kg domestic cylinders. This will directly impact consumers' pockets, and restaurant and hotel professionals will be particularly affected.

E-KYC rules

Along with the price change, the most significant update relates to the e-KYC process for LPG customers. The e-KYC process is being implemented to prevent the black marketing of gas cylinders and to uncover hoarding. If Indane, HP, and Bharat Gas customers haven't completed the e-KYC process, they will face a disruption in receiving their subsidy. Their gas connection may also be disconnected for a few days. Customers are advised to complete the KYC process using face authentication using the official mobile app.

Rules for getting gas cylinder delivered at home

Starting August 1st, the rules for home delivery of gas cylinders have been tightened. The Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system has been further strengthened. After booking a cylinder, a one-time password (OTP) will be sent to the customer's registered mobile number. This password message must be shown to the delivery person. Furthermore, cylinders will not be delivered to homes. Tracking of commercial gas will be increased. Agencies will be required to provide updates to companies regarding where the gas was delivered. This process will be done to prevent the black marketing of cylinders.
