But the good news is that most Android smartphones are now being provided with an inbuilt feature to block spam calls.
How to block spam calls on Samsung Galaxy smartphones?
Samsung phones have call blocking built in:
- Open the Phone app
- Tap on the three dots at the top right
- Select the option "Block numbers"
- Turn on "Block calls from unknown numbers"
- Also activate "Block spam and scam calls"
- If you want, you can also block a number manually
How to block spam calls on OnePlus smartphones
Most OnePlus devices now come with Google's Dialer app preinstalled:
- Open the Phone app
- Tap on the three dots > go to Settings
- Tap on "Caller ID & Spam"
- Turn on the "Filter spam calls" option
How to block spam calls in Oppo, Vivo, iQOO and Realme phones?
Most phones of these brands also use Google Dialer. The steps are the same:

Devices running HyperOS or MIUI have spam call blocking via the inbuilt dialer:

If you still receive spam calls despite these settings, use government tools:
- Activate DND (Do Not Disturb) service
- Send SMS to 1909 from your mobile: START 0
- Download TRAI DND App
- Download from Google Play Store
- Register your mobile number
- Turn on call-blocking options
