(Signal President warns about ChatGPT)

Signal President on ChatGPT: Artificial Intelligence is spreading rapidly these days. AI chatbots are now becoming a part of people's lives. People are using AI chatbots like ChatGPT , Gemini, and Claude for everything from studies to office work and personal advice. The way these chatbots talk is so easy that many people start considering them as their digital companions, which can become a big threat after a while. Signal President Meredith Whitaker believes that thinking like this can be dangerous.

Correct use of AI is essential.

Meredith Whitaker herself uses AI tools only when necessary. She enlists AI's help with tasks like organizing and formatting documents. However, she doesn't want to rely on AI for her own ideas, writing, or thinking about complex issues. She believes the process of understanding and developing an idea is an essential part of human thinking and shouldn't be left entirely to machines.

AI is not a human being but a technical system.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Meredith Whittaker, president of messaging platform Signal, warned people against mistaking AI chatbots for friends or trusted companions. She says that no matter how human-like AI systems respond, they lack consciousness or the ability to understand emotions. They react based solely on the data they learn during their training. Simply put, AI doesn't sense your emotions, but only guesses what the most appropriate answer to a question might be.

Control always remains in the hands of the company.

Whitaker believes that it's not wise to completely trust any AI chatbot because its functionality and capabilities are controlled by the company that created it. Even if AI appears impartial, it still has some limitations. Furthermore, its rules and operating procedures are also determined by the company. Therefore, users have no control over these chatbots.
