According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), after intensive MRI scans, X-rays and medical examinations, Sam will be out of the field for 10 weeks from the date of injury.

His inclusion in the final squad for the upcoming New Zealand tour after the Champions Trophy will depend on his fitness, which will be reviewed next month. The PCB statement said about Sam Ayub, "After extensive MRI scans, X-rays and medical assessments, Sam will be out of the field for 10 weeks from the date of injury (January 3)."
