New update on the 8th Pay Commission

8th Pay Commission: Discussions regarding the Eighth Pay Commission for central government employees have intensified. It is being said that this could result in a significant increase in the minimum basic salary of employees. In this regard, a series of meetings is scheduled to begin in Delhi between April 28th and April 30th.

In a notice dated April 24, the Commission stated that it had received a large number of requests from employee unions and associations for meetings to be held in Delhi between April 28 and April 30. Due to time constraints, not all requests could be fulfilled during this period, but the Commission assured that more meetings would be held in Delhi as well as in various states and union territories in the coming months.

Why will there be meetings?

According to a notice issued by the Commission's Deputy Secretary, Abhay N. Sahay, direct communication will be held with various employee unions and organizations during these three days. The purpose is to discuss the demands of the employee organizations, including salary structures and pension benefits. The National Council-JCM (NC-JCM) has already formulated its demands. The deadline for submitting the memorandum is April 30, 2026.
