WhatsApp has rolled out some unique features for its users. These features allow users to coordinate in chats. These new changes include improved polls, which allow users to set voting deadlines and send anonymous replies. Using the new tagging feature, users can tag all group members simultaneously to send alerts if they need to send an urgent message. A new WhatsApp group chat can also be created instantly by selecting some members from the previous group.

New WhatsApp group feature for group chats

In a blog post, WhatsApp said it has upgraded the polling feature to make it easier to make decisions in group chats. Users can now set an end time for polls so that voting automatically stops after a certain period of time. WhatsApp has also introduced the option to hide voters' names, allowing members to share their preferences with Astra Privacy.

Additionally, an option has been added to prevent users from making typos or errors when creating polls. This allows for 15 minutes after sending the poll, allowing users to edit the text. The company already allowed users to edit some test messages sent to them, and now this feature has been added to the poll message itself. This eliminates the need to delete the entire poll due to minor errors; instead, you'll simply need to use the edit option.

WhatsApp has also introduced the @all mention feature, which allows users to mention everyone in a group at the same time using this single tag. Previously, it was necessary to mention everyone's name before sending a message. However, this is no longer necessary, as using the @all tag automatically adds all group members to the group. According to WhatsApp, this feature is designed to provide updates such as office or school closures, event reminders, or timely schedule changes.

However, if a group has more than 32 members, only the group admin can use the @all tag. Such mentions can send alerts to users even if the group is muted. If users don't want these mentions, they can mute the @all notification option in Settings.

The final new feature allows you to create a new group by simply removing some members from an existing group. This eliminates the need to manually add members again. According to the company, this feature can be useful for starting side conversations, managing event preparations, planning a surprise party, or simply discussing a specific topic separately without disturbing the original group.
