One of the most revered local temples is the Shangchul Mahadev Temple located in Shanghad Meadows. Shanghad Maidan is also considered to be the abode of Shangchul Mahadev. The Shangchul Mahadev Temple Committee has also made rules and regulations to prevent any kind of impurity in the Maidan. Those who do not follow the rules have to pay a fine. It is strictly prohibited to bring vehicles to the Maidan, come after drinking alcohol, spread dirt and the police and forest department employees come wearing belts and caps. The temple committee says that such decisions have been taken by the deity himself. He just ensures that these are followed. There is also a tower temple made of wood in Raila village here.
