Pitru Paksha has started from 29th September 2023. During Pitru Paksha, Pind Daan, and Shraddha rituals of ancestors are performed. In Hindu religion, Pind Daan and Shraddha rituals are performed to provide peace and salvation to the souls of ancestors. Various rituals are performed after death, including rituals related to Shraddha, bone immersion, and Pind Daan. Its purpose is to attain peace and salvation of the souls of ancestors or the dead.

Lord Brahma is believed to have started this practice. There are many places in the country to perform Shraddha and Pind Daan during Pitru Paksha, which are considered suitable for attaining the salvation of the soul. Varanasi
Kashi city of Uttar Pradesh is considered to be the favorite place of Lord Bholenath. A grand temple of Lord Shiva is located in Varanasi, which is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Here Bholenath is worshiped as Kashi Vishwanath. Kashi is situated on the banks of the holy river Ganga. Pind Daan is performed at the Ganga ghats of Banaras. It is considered the most suitable place for Shraddha and Pind Daan.

Gaya
Gaya Dham in Bihar is one of the most important places for performing Shraddha during Pitru Paksha. People from all over the country come here to offer Pind Daan to their ancestors. It is said that the incarnation of Lord Shri Hari i.e. Vishnu resides on the banks of river Falgu. For this reason, taking a dip in this holy river removes sins, and offering Pind Daan at a holy place relieves the ancestors from sorrows.

Pushkar
One of the most important places for Shraddha rituals and Pind Daan is Pushkar in Rajasthan. The only temple of Lord Brahma is established in Pushkar. It is believed that the sacred lake located here originates from the navel of Lord Vishnu. Just by bathing in this lake, one gets freedom from sins. The Pind Daan ceremony is organized in Pushkar in the month of Ashwin.

Badrinath Dham
Badrinath Dham, the holy pilgrimage site of Uttarakhand, is one of the ancient and famous Char Dhams of India. Badrinath Dham temple is situated on the Alaknanda coast, where Brahma Kapal Ghat is. Performing Pind Daan at this ghat is considered auspicious. One can visit Badrinath Dham during Pitru Paksha to attain peace and salvation of the souls of ancestors.

Ayodhya
One of the holy pilgrimage sites of Uttar Pradesh is Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, which is located in Ayodhya. Shri Ram, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born in Ayodhya. Ayodhya is situated on the banks of the Saryu River. On the occasion of Pitru Paksha, an event is organized on the banks of Saryu for Shraddha and Pind Daan of ancestors. Here the pundits perform the puja as per the rituals.
