Why does the temple open only on Rakshabandhan?
The story of the opening of this temple on the day of Rakshabandhan is associated with King Bali and Lord Vishnu. According to the legend, King Bali had requested Lord Vishnu to become his gatekeeper, which the Lord accepted and he went to Patala with King Bali. When Mata Lakshmi could not find Lord Vishnu anywhere for many days, on the suggestion of Narad ji, she tied a Raksha Sutra to King Bali on the full moon day of Shravan month and urged him to free Lord Vishnu. After this, King Bali made Lord Vishnu meet Mata Lakshmi at this very place.
It is believed that later the Pandavas built the temple at this place. Women who come here on the day of Rakshabandhan tie Rakhi to Lord Banshi Narayan. Rare species of flowers and trees are also seen around this temple, and the view here is captivating.
