Lansdowne is a cantonment town in the Pauri Garhwal district in the state of Uttarakhand (India). Lansdowne is a very beautiful hill located in Garhwal, Uttarakhand. Its height above sea level is 1706 meters. The natural shade here is mesmerizing. The weather here remains pleasant throughout the year. # Garhwal Rifles Citadel
The beautiful hill station Lansdowne was established by the British in the year 1887. It was named after the then Viceroy of India, Lord Lansdowne. By the way, its real name is Kaludanda. This entire area is under the army and is also a stronghold of the Garhwal Rifles. You can visit the Garhwal Rifles War Memorial and Regimental Museum here. Here you can get a glimpse of things related to Garhwal Rifles. The museum remains open till 5 pm only. There is also a parade ground close to it, which common tourists can see from outside. There is a lot to see in this area full of natural beauty. To enjoy the natural shade one can go tip in the top. Snowy peaks and panoramic views can be seen from here. The mountains spread far and wide and many small villages between them can be easily seen. The view of the rising sun from behind them looks wonderful. In clear weather, a long chain of snow-capped mountains is visible. Nearby is also the more than 100-year-old St. Mary's Church. The Bhulla Tal here is very famous. It is a small lake where boating facilities are available. The beautiful view of sunset in the evening is visible from Santoshi Mata Temple. This temple is built on the high hill of Lansdowne. By the way, the Tadkeshwar temple is also a few kilometers away from here. This is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva. It is also considered Siddha Peeth. It is situated on the mountain at an altitude of 2092 meters. The entire temple is surrounded by palm and deodar trees. This whole area is beautiful as well as peaceful. Tourists also come here for adventure sports like mountain climbing, biking, and cycling.
