History of Mysore Palace
Mysore Palace has its own rich history which was built by the Wadiyar dynasty in the 14th century. In the year 1638, the palace was badly damaged due to lightning, which was renovated by the rulers there. In 1793, Tipu Sultan, son of Hyder Ali, took over the power of Mysore by removing the Wadiyar king, during whose rule this palace was molded in Muslim architectural style. When Tipu Sultan died in 1799, the five-year-old prince of the Wadiyar dynasty, Krishnaraja Wadiyar III, was enthroned, after which he rebuilt this palace in Hindu architectural style, which was completed by 1803. In 1897, during the wedding ceremony of Princess Jayalakshmani, this palace caught fire due to which the entire palace was ruined. For its reconstruction, Queen Kempa Nanjamani Devi appointed the famous British architect Henry Irwin. Henry Irwin started building the palace in 1897 and after about 15 years, it was completed and handed over to the queen in 1912.

Structure of Mysore Palace
The architectural style of the domes in the Mysore Palace is designed as Indo-Saracenic with a mixture of Hindu, Rajput, Mughal and Gothic styles. This three-storey building of the Mysore Fort has marble domes and a 145 feet high stone structure. The fort is surrounded by a magnificent garden. The length of the main complex in the structure of the palace is 245 feet and the width is 156 feet. The palace has three gates - eastern gate, south entrance and west entrance. Many important tunnels are built inside the Mysore Palace. Apart from this, the idol of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, prosperity and fortune, is also located.

The dome located in the upper part of this palace is made of pink gray stone. The dome of a big fort built inside this palace is decorated with gold sheets. This Mysore Palace has separate rooms for the kings to live and separate rooms for the common man to live. The first rays of the morning falling on the palace enhance its beauty. A collection of many mythological dolls can also be seen in a part of this Mysore Palace. At present, there are about 97000 bulbs installed in this entire Mysore Palace, which enhance the beauty of this palace with their light.

Earlier this palace was made of wood
This palace looks like this in its current form, it was not like that in its original form. Actually earlier this palace was completely made of wood. It is believed that this palace was burnt to ashes during the marriage of Princess Jayalakshmi in 1897. It is believed that at that time Darasa festival was being celebrated in Mysore.
