Marghat Wale Hanuman Mandir is a unique and mythological place located in Yamuna Bazar area of Old Delhi. Due to the cremation ground located in front of this temple, it is called "Marghat Wale Hanuman Baba Ka Mandir". There is an ancient story behind this.

Resting place of Hanuman ji and liberation of souls
According to the belief of Ramayana period, when Hanuman ji was carrying Sanjivani booti, he thought of getting down near the Yamuna river and resting for a while. But as soon as he got down, there was an uproar among the evil spirits there. All the souls got liberation just by his presence.

It is said that Yamuna ji also prayed to Hanuman ji that she would come to see him every year. That is why every year the water level of Yamuna river rises and reaches the temple. The sadhus here say that this is the proof of Yamuna ji giving darshan to Hanuman ji.

Features and structure of the temple
The idol of Lord Hanuman in the temple is installed about 7-8 feet below the ground. Earlier this temple was situated on the banks of river Yamuna, but with time the temple got away from the river due to the change in the flow of the river. Still, it is believed that Yamuna ji comes to the temple in a huge form to see Hanuman ji.

Center of faith of devotees
A large number of devotees come to the Marghat Hanuman temple every Tuesday and Saturday for darshan. Devotees have to stand in a long queue for hours to see Baba. Here the festival of Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated with great pomp.

Special significance
There is a belief associated with the crematorium located in front of the temple that Baba Hanuman ji crosses the souls coming here during the last journey. This place is not only a center of faith for the devotees, but is also considered a miraculous place.
