Manali is a city in the Himachal Pradesh state of India. Manali is a popular hill station of Himachal Pradesh located north of the Kullu Valley. Manali, situated at an altitude of 2050 meters above sea level, is situated on the banks of the Vyas River. Thousands of tourists come to this hill station to get relief from the summer heat. In winter the temperature here reaches below zero degrees. Hidimba Temple
Located in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, this temple is dedicated to Hidimba Devi, the wife of Bhima of the Indian epic Mahabharata. This is a popular temple not only in Manali but in the entire Himachal Pradesh. Any tourist who visits Manali visits this temple. This ancient temple is surrounded by cedar trees near the town of Dungri near the Himalayan mountains. According to the legend, when Bhima and Pandavas were leaving Manali, they had given the responsibility of taking care of the kingdom to Hidimba. Another story is that when her son Ghatotkacha grew up, she gave him the responsibility of the kingdom and went to meditate in the forest. After many years his prayer was successful and the goddess attained glory. Maharaj Bahadur Singh had built this temple at this place in 1553 AD. Situated at a height of 1533 meters above sea level, this temple is also known as Dhungri Temple. A festival is celebrated here in May. This temple made of wood is built in pagoda style.

Vashishtha Temple
Vashishtha is situated 3 kilometers away from Manali. This pair of temples made of ancient stones are on opposite sides of each other. One temple is dedicated to Lord Rama and the other to Saint Vashishtha. This temple is situated in a village named Vashishtha, which is famous for its magnificent hot water springs and Vashishtha Temple is famous for its sulfur hot water springs, the waters of which are believed to have great healing powers.
At this site of Vashishtha temple, some remains of ancient shrines and stepwells also attract attention, which shows some features of medieval temple architecture. The revival of the temple located here is also worth seeing. This composition is indicative of the Kathkuni style. This country style uses dry masonry without mortar and cedar moldings.

Manikaran
Manikaran hot water spring is situated at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level. It is said that Shiva's wife Parvati lost her earring here. After that the water of this spring became hot. Thousands of people come from far and wide to take a holy dip in the waters here. The water here is so hot that rice, pulses, and vegetables can be boiled in it.

Buddhist monastery
The Buddhist monasteries of Manali are very popular. Most of the Buddhist refugees from Kullu Valley are settled here. The Godhan Thekchokling Monastery here is quite famous. This monastery was built by Tibetan refugees in 1969.

Rohtang Pass
Located at an altitude of 4111 meters above sea level, 50 kilometers away from Manali, this pass is very much liked by adventure tourists. To the west of the pass is a beautiful lake called Dasohar. This place remains quite cool even during summer. It can be reached from Lahaul Valley between June and November. Sonpani Glacier is at some distance from here.

Vyas Kund
This pond is the water source of the sacred Vyas river. Water flows from here like a waterfall in the Vyas River. The water here is crystal clear and so cold that it numbs the fingers. There are only stones all around it and there is very little vegetation.

Old Manali
3 kilometers northwest of Manali is Old Manali which is famous for gardens and ancient guest houses. A ruined fort called Manaligarh can also be seen here.

Solang Nala
Solang Nullah, located at a distance of 13 km from Manali, is popular for its 300-meter ski lift. Beautiful views of glaciers and snow-capped mountain peaks can be seen from this beautiful place. Nearby, Jagatsukh, the early capital of Manali, is also a place worth seeing.

Manu Mandir
Manu Temple located in Old Manali is dedicated to Maharishi Manu. After coming here he meditated. The road to reach the temple is difficult and slippery.

Arjun Cave
It is said that Arjun of Mahabharata had performed penance here. It was at this place that Indradev gave him the Pashupati weapon.

Bhuntar is the nearest airport at a distance of 50 kilometers from Manali. To reach Manali, bus or taxi services can be availed from here.

Joginder Nagar Narrow Gauge Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Manali which is at a distance of 135 kilometers from Manali. Chandigarh is the nearest broad gauge railway station, 310 km from Manali.

Road route
Manali is connected by road to Himachal and surrounding cities. State Transport Corporation buses go to Manali from many cities.
