Devguradiya Shiva Temple
Devguradiya Shiva Temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, is 8 km from Indore city. There is a temple situated in a faraway village. This temple is a rock-cut monument built in the 7th century. The temple was renovated by Ahilya Bai Holkar in the 18th century. This temple is also known as Garuda Tirtha among the local people. The special feature of this temple is that the water source here is in the shape of the open mouth of a cow which is called Gaumukh.
Glass Temple
Kanch Mandir is considered a grand temple of Indore. This temple is made of white stone. This temple is constructed in the form of a mansion, which also has a canopied balcony and shikhara. Let us tell you, that the interior of the temple is completely made of glass. Kanch Mandir is a Jain temple, built by cotton merchant Hukumchand in the 20th century. When you go to this temple, you will see its walls, ceiling, pillars, floor, doors, etc. Everything is made of glass. Lord Mahavir and Tirthankara idols are installed in the temple.
Annapurna Temple
Annapurna Temple built by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar is one of the most beautiful and famous temples of Indore. It is believed that those who come here and pray with a true heart, their wishes are fulfilled. Annapurna Devi is considered the goddess of food and the common belief is that if the devotees visit and worship Maa Annapurna in this temple then they never face a shortage of food in their life. The idol worshiped here has a spoon and food in its hands. As far as the architecture of the temple is concerned, within the temple complex, there are three separate temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Kalabhairava. The walls outside the temple are decorated with beautiful images of mythological characters.
Khajrana Ganesh Temple
This temple is located on Khajrana Road, Indore, and is very famous. It was also constructed by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar. There is a mythological story behind this temple. According to legend, the idol of Lord Ganesha installed here was hidden in a well to protect it from the tyrannical Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. After receiving the idol in 1735, this temple was constructed by Queen Ahilya Bai Holkar. Today people know this temple by the name of Khajrana Temple. The festival of Vinayak Chaturthi is celebrated with great pomp in this temple. During this time, a fair is also organized in the area of Khajrana temple. Here, whichever devotee makes an upside-down Swastika on the back of Lord Ganesha to fulfill his wish, Lord Ganesha fulfills his wish. After the wish is fulfilled, Swastika is made again. Here special worship of Lord Ganesha is done on Wednesday and Chaturthi.
Bijasen Tekri
Bijasen Tekri is also one of the famous places of worship in Indore. It is the abode of Bijasen Mata, who is known as Considered to be an incarnation of Goddess Durga. It is believed that by praying here with a true heart, even the blind can regain their eyesight due to the influence of the power of the Goddess. Built in 1920, this temple is situated on the top of an 800 feet high hill (called Tekri). The main attraction of this place of worship is the extraordinary fair organized during Navratri which attracts both devotees and tourists in large numbers.
Bijasan Mata Temple
You might be surprised to know but this temple is 1000 years old. Idols of nine goddesses are installed in this temple. This temple was built by Maharaja Shivajirao Holkar of Indore in 1760. Bijasan Mata is considered the goddess of good fortune and daughter-giving. If you are facing any kind of obstacles in your marriage, or are not able to have a child, then visiting this temple fulfills all your wishes. Talking about the past, due to being a forest of black deer, this temple has become a special identity for Tantra-Mantra and Siddhi.
Bada Ganpati Temple
Bada Ganpati Temple is one of the famous temples of Indore. A 25-foot-high idol of Lord Ganesha is present in this temple. This temple was constructed in 1875. It is said that Shri Dadhich, a resident of Ujjain, dreamed of the idol of Lord Ganesha at night and thus he woke up the next day and decided to build a temple there. The idol is made from a mixture of limestone, jaggery, bricks, and sacred soil, crushed soil and mud from the feet of horses, cows, and elephants, powder of Pancharatna, and water. The frame of the idol is made of gold, silver, brass, copper, and iron.
