Barmer located in western Rajasthan is an important part of the Thar Desert and thus is a desert city that is quite famous for its historical ruins. There are many historical places in Barmer which attract history lovers to Barmer. Being a desert city, Barmer has a harsh climate and less vegetation, but art, crafts, and music are famous in Rajasthan. You will not find many tourist places here but historical ruins, temples, and festivals celebrated here are the major attractions of Barmer. Apart from the fort, there are many temples like Kiradu Ancient Temple, and Jain Temple which are major tourist places here.

Barmer Fort
Barmer Fort is one of the most famous tourist attractions of Barmer. The fort was built by Rawat Bhima on the hill in the present city of Barmer in 1552 AD when he shifted his capital from Juna to the present city of Barmer. He built a fort on the top of the town which is also known as Barmer Garh. The top point of the hill on which the fort is built is about 1383 feet but Rawat Bhim built the fort at a height of 676 feet which is a more secure place than the top of the hill. The main entrance of the fort is in the north direction, safety bergs are built in the east and west direction.

Chintamani Parasnath Jain Temple
Chintamani Parasnath Jain Temple is a famous Jain temple which is also known as 'Shri Godisa Parshvanath Bhagwan Ka Mandir'. This temple is dedicated to Parasnath who is a Jain Tirthankara. Situated on a hilltop to the west of Barmer city, this Parasnath temple was built in the 12th century. Parshvanath Jain Temple is famous for its magnificent sculptures and decorative paintings which make its interiors attractive. Tourists visiting here must also see the rich glass work of the artisans in the interior of the temple.

Juna Ka Qila
Juna is a place in Barmer which is now called Purana Barmer. Juna was the main city built by Bar Rao but during Rawat Bhima rule he shifted Barmer to the new location where the present city stands and Juna remains as the ruins of past glory and old heritage. Juna Fort was the old palace where the rulers used to live before moving to Barmer Fort. Juna Fort is located about 25 km from Barmer and is known for its Jain temple and old fort. According to the inscription on a stone pillar near the temple, it was constructed in the 12th or 13th century. Juna is surrounded by hills and also has a small lake.

Kiradu Temple

Kiradu Temple is one of the major temples in Rajasthan which is known as a scary place rather than a tourist attraction in Rajasthan. The temples of Kiradu are a group of temples which are also called the Khajuraho of Rajasthan and are famous for their ancient haunted stories. The temples are famous for being a favorite spot for lovers and the background of the temples is also haunted and the stories are really hair-raising. There is a belief that no person stays here after sunset around the temples, as it is said that whoever stops here will turn into stone and this story is also remembered as the history of the temples which is scary as well as thrilling.

Shri Nakoda Parshvanath Jain Temple

Shri Nakoda Parshvanath Jain Temple in Barmer is one of the important temples of Jainism and is considered one of the very important places for Jains. Lord Nakoda is a black colored idol which has great religious significance among the Jains and is also considered a great pilgrimage place for them. The temple is situated on a hill and the view from there is really amazing.
