Along with the holy river like Ganga, many places are connected with spirituality and also have their mythological importance. If you are also traveling to Banaras or are planning to visit, then today we are going to tell you about some famous places of Banaras where you will get supernatural pleasure by enjoying the tour. So let's know about these places of Banaras...
Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple
If you have come to visit Banaras and have not visited Kashi Vishwanath Temple then your visit is futile because there is a grand temple of Lord Shiva in Kashi which is known as “Kashi Vishwanath Temple”. This temple is situated along the river Ganges. This temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Kashi Vishwanath Temple has a special place in Hindu religion and it is several thousand years old temple. According to a belief, one attains salvation by taking a bath in the river Ganga and having the darshan of Lord Shiva in this temple. From reading its history, it came to know that Ahilyabai Holkar built the Kashi Vishwanath Temple on which Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab built a golden canopy. Maharani Baijabai of Gwalior built the pavilion of Gyanvapi and Maharaja Nepal installed a huge Nandi statue there. In our opinion, along with Lord Shiva's darshan in Kashi Vishwanath Temple, you must also visit Annapurna Temple which is built in the same premises as it is also included in the places to visit in Varanasi.
The River Ganges
The most sacred and biggest river of Banaras is the Ganges River. Banaras is situated on the banks of this river. This river itself contains the cultural heritage of our country. Most of the temples of Banaras are situated around this river. There are a total of 88 ghats in Banaras, which are situated on the banks of the river Ganga. Our devotees and tourists from all over the country and abroad come here to take a bath in the river Ganga. We all know that man is an effigy of mistakes and because of his mistakes, knowingly or unknowingly sometimes commits some sins. According to the Hindu religion, Mother Ganga washes away all sins just by taking a bath in the river Ganges. Ganga Aarti was started at Dashashwamedh Ghat in 1991 and since then this aarti is very famous because the view here is worth seeing at that time. Ganga Aarti is performed every day in the evening. The Ganga Aarti here is world-famous and tourists, big celebrities and VVIPs come from far and wide to see it.
Dashashwamedh Ghat
Dashashwamedh Ghat is one of the ghats situated on the banks of the river Ganga of Banaras, which is considered to be the oldest and also the most beautiful ghat. Dashashwamedh means the sacrifice of ten horses. According to a belief, a big yagya was performed here and ten horses were sacrificed in it. Out of 88 ghats of Varanasi, five ghats are considered the most sacred. These five Ghats are: Assi Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Adikeshav Ghat, Panchganga Ghat and Manikarnika Ghat. These Ghats are collectively called 'Panchteerth'.
Assi Ghat
This is the same ghat where the Assi River and Ganga River meet. According to a legend, Maa Durga, after killing a demon named Shumbha-Nishumbha with her sword, threw that sword here, due to which the river Assi originated. There is a huge Peepal tree on this ghat, under which there is a Shivling of Lord Shiva and a temple of Lord Asingameshwara, which is visited by many devotees.
Manikarnika Ghat
It is said that after the death of a person, he is born again and this cycle of birth and death of life continues forever. To get freedom from this cycle of birth and death, the soul needs to get salvation. In Hinduism, Manikarnika Ghat is the place of salvation for Hindus. It is believed that after death, whose dead body is burnt at Manikarnika Ghat, his soul gets salvation and he also gets rid of the cycle of birth and death forever. The pyre's fire never subsides at this ghat, every time some or the other dead body is being cremated.
