FIS has authorized Auli for skiing races. Let us tell you that this is the only place that has been authorized by FIS for a skiing race. There is a 1300-meter-long ski track for skiing here.

Just in front of Auli, a mountain is visible which after being covered with snow takes the shape of a lying girl. This beautiful scene is known as Sleeping Beauty.

Ice is made when there is no snowfall
The world's highest artificial lake is located in Auli. This lake with a capacity of 25 thousand kilometers was constructed in the year 2010. When there is no snowfall in Auli, artificial snow is made from the water of this lake. Machines made in France have been installed here to make ice.

Asia's second longest ropeway
The 4.15 km long ropeway connecting Joshimath to Auli is the second longest ropeway in Asia. This ropeway takes people to Auli at a height of more than ten thousand feet above sea level through ten towers. This 22 km long ropeway is the second longest ropeway in Asia. Its speed is considered higher than other ropeways in the country. The cabin can accommodate 25 tourists at a time.

Trident mountain
Trishul Mountain, situated 23490 feet above sea level, is a major attraction of Auli. The name of this mountain is taken from the trident of Lord Shiva. A mysterious reservoir, Roopkund Lake is situated beneath this mountain.

Soldhar Tapovan
This is a major tourist destination of Auli. The hot water fountains running here are worth seeing. But tourists need to be very careful to go here. It is said that only those tourists who are mentally and physically strong can easily visit this place.

Nanda Devi
The highest mountain in India, Nanda Devi is situated at an altitude of 7,817 meters. Nanda Devi is one of the highest hill stations in India. The peak takes its name from the blessings of the goddess herself. Nanda Devi National Park which surrounds the peak is also a place where you can see flora and fauna and biodiversity.

Artificial lake
The Artificial Lake of Auli is a pristine lake, situated at a very high altitude and is one of the highest man-made lakes in the world. This lake was created by the government to provide artificial snow on the ski slopes during low snowfall months. The water from this lake is fed into snow guns placed along the ski slopes.

Joshimath
Joshi Math is at a distance of 12 kilometers from Auli. It is considered the gateway to Badrinath and the Valley of Flowers. Joshimath city is also known as ‘Jyotirmath’. It is believed that Mahaguru Adi Shankaracharya attained enlightenment here. There is also Shankaracharya's monastery and Amar Kalpa tree here. It is believed that this tree is about 2,500 years old.

Chenab Lake
Chenab Lake is a beautiful lake situated on the Dang. Dang is a small village. To see Chenab Lake one has to climb a very high mountain. If you can climb a hill, then definitely visit this place, because you do not get a chance to see the picturesque view here again and again.

Vanshinarayan Temple Kalpeshwar
One has to walk quite a bit to reach this place. If you can walk then definitely go here. To reach this place one has to first come to Helang Chatti from Joshimath. It is 12 kilometers away from Auli. After walking 10 kilometers from Helang Chatti, one comes to the valley of Kalpeshwar. Vanshinarayan Temple is only 2 kilometers away from Kalpeshwar. You will find immense peace in Vanshinarayan Temple.

Chhatra Kund
Chhatra Kund Sarovar situated in the middle of the forest is at a distance of one kilometer from Gursaun. This site is situated amidst a dense forest. The scenic lake here is very much liked by the tourists. Beautiful views of nature are worth seeing from here.

Sanjivani Peak
Auli is also considered a storehouse of medicinal plants. For this reason, it has also got the name of Sanjivani Shikhar. It is said that during the Ramayana period, when Hanumanji came to the Himalayas to collect Sanjeevani Booti, he stopped at the mound of Auli and looked at Dronagiri Mountain from here and saw the divine light of Sanjeevani Booti. There is also a grand temple of Hanumanji on this Sanjeevani peak of Auli.

Vishnuprayag
Vishnuprayag is located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand and is situated at an altitude of 1,372 meters above sea level. On this majestic beach, you can also see a famous Vishnu temple which was built by the Maharani of Indore in 1889. Here the two tributaries of Alaknanda and Dahliganga meet together. This can be seen from the form. Vishnuprayag is one of the five places (Panchprayag) where the river meets its sister tributaries before turning into the mighty Ganges River.

Tracking
Auli has some great slopes where you can trek. Peaks ranging around 2500 to 3000 meters, Auli has good trekking routes for trekking enthusiasts. You can reach Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Kamet, Man Parvat, Dunagiri, and Joshimath from Auli. Other smaller trekking ranges are Gorsan, Tali, Kuari Pass, Khulara and Tapovan.

Grand Badri
This place is situated in the center of a dense forest. Situated at an altitude of 2744 meters above sea level, this site is one of the five Badri temples. An image of Narasimha, an incarnation of the Hindu god Vishnu, is enshrined in the temple located here. Tourists can reach this place by trekking the route from Tapovan onwards to the Dhauliganga river.

Rudraprayag
One of the five 'prays' (confluences) of the Alaknanda River, Rudraprayag is the meeting point of the Alaknanda and Mandakini Rivers. Rudraprayag remains a busy point due to its proximity to Badrinath and Kedarnath temples. There are many temples located nearby like Rudranath Temple, Chamunda Devi Temple, and many others which you must visit.

When to go to Auli
Although you can visit Auli 365 days a year, the best time will be between November to March. The climate here remains very cold due to heavy snowfall between December and February, whereas the weather remains cold between May and November.
