Agra Fort
The heritage site is located close to the Taj Mahal. A massive fort spread over 380 thousand square kilometers, this structure is the second most important in the city. History records that the fort was built before the Mughal Empire ruled over the country. However, Akbar rebuilt this sandstone fort in the 16th century to give it a new look. The Agra Fort has many attractions, such as Delhi Gate, Moti Masjid, Nagina Masjid, Hall of Private Audience, Lodhi Gate, Hall of Public Audience, and Musamman Burj.
Fatehpur Sikri
Built by the Mughal emperor Akbar-Fatehpur Sikri is one of the World Heritage Sites. Fatehpur Sikri is the most beautiful and closest tourist destination to Agra. A half-hour drive will take you to the erstwhile capital of the Mughal Empire. The distance from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri is 36 kilometers and the best time to visit here is between October to March. Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah
This tomb, built on the eastern bank of the Yamuna river in Agra, is known as Chota Taj. Spread over 23 square kilometers, this tomb was built in 1628. Beautiful Mughal artwork can be seen inside the tomb. This marble tomb was built by Jahangir's Begum Noor Jahan in memory of her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg in 1622-1628 AD. Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah is the first tomb in India which is completely made of marble.
Akbar's Church
Although you must have seen many churches, this one is something different. The first Christmas in Agra was celebrated in this church 415 years ago. If we go by the history of this church, the Mughal ruler Akbar laid the foundation of this church to propagate the religion of Deen-e-Ilahi. According to a book of the Christian community, Christians started coming to Tajnagri in 1562. This church was built by the Jesuit Father in 1599 after Emperor Akbar gave them money and land. Sikandra
Sikandra is located at a distance of four kilometers from Agra. The special thing about this place is that Akbar's tomb is located here. This tomb was completed in eight years, the construction of which was started by Akbar himself in 1605. Later in 1613, it was completed by Akbar's son Jahangir. The specialty of this tomb is its tall door and it has four minarets made of marble. A wide road leads to the tomb through the door. This tomb is spread over 119 acres. Tomb of Mariam Uz-Zamani
The tomb of Mariam was built in her memory by her son Jahangir. Akbar's tomb was also completed by Jahangir and he also built his mother's tomb. The same craftsmanship that you get to see in Akbar's tomb is also found in Mariam's tomb. There are three graves in this tomb.
