The history of the Golden Temple states that it was rebuilt in 1830 by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in marble and gold after undergoing a period of destruction. This temple is situated in the center of Amritsar city. The kitchen of the Golden Temple and the langar here is one of the main attractions of the place. A minimum of 40,000 people eat food at the langar every day and during weekends and holidays, the number goes up to 1,00,000.

Akal Takht
The Akal Takht, also known as the Immortal Throne, is located in Amritsar. The highest political institution of the Sikhs is located in the form of the Akal Takht and this Akal Takht was established by the 6th Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Har Gobind Singh Ji in the year 1606. The Akal Takht is one of the five Akal Takhts located in the famous Golden Temple in Amritsar.

Wagah Border
The marked border of India and Pakistan, 28 km from Amritsar and 22 km from Lahore, has been named Wagah Border. The Wagah Border is located in Amritsar, Punjab, India. Tourists come to visit the Wagah border in the evening. There is no entry fee to visit this place. The border gate is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the 45-minute ceremony begins at noon and lasts until sunset.

Jallianwala Bagh
The historic Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden near the Golden Temple in Amritsar. This Jallianwala Bagh is spread over 6.5 acres of land and India has become witness to one of the tragic events of the year. During British rule, thousands of children, elders, youth, and women gathered at this place for the peaceful celebration of Baisakhi and were allowed to fire indiscriminately on the orders of General Dyer. Thousands of innocent people were killed in this incident. This massacre place was inaugurated on 13 April 1961 by Dr. Rajendra Prasad.

One of the places to see in Amritsar, the Partition Museum here focuses on the stories and other facts of lakhs of people. Recently a town hall was opened in Amritsar.

Gobindgarh Fort
Located in the heart of Amritsar, Govindgarh Fort is one of the most historical tourist attractions in Amritsar. The fort was under the control of the Indian Army and was only for their use until 2017 when it was open for public viewing. Govindgarh Fort is being developed as a live museum and art gallery. The place is home to some of the oldest documents and art of Sikhism. Apart from this, the famous Zamzama cannons are also present in the Govindgarh Fort which is the main attraction of the place. The best time to visit here is from 10 AM to 10 PM from Monday to Sunday.

Khair Uddin Mosque
Among the places to see in Amritsar, the Khair Uddin Masjid here is more famous for its architecture. Khair Uddin Mosque was established by Mohammad Khair Uddin.
