There are 6 such villages in the African country of Ghana, which are popularly known as witch villages. Such women live in these villages, who have been ostracized from society by being called daayan or chudail.
Let us tell you that in many villages of the African country Ghana, people declare women witches due to superstition. The result of this is that every year thousands of women are burnt alive thereby being called witches or they are tortured a lot. Because of this, they leave their villages. There are strange reasons behind making these women witches, which are surprising to hear about. If a woman's husband dies here due to illness, accident, snake bites, or drowning in a river, then that woman is declared a witch.
Women who have been declared witches, if they survive, have to leave their homes and go to witch villages in Ghana. There are 6 such villages in Ghana, of which Gambaga and Gushigu are the main ones. Leaving the village and family, these women living in the village of witches have lost their identity. Even family members do not contact them. As such, they remain isolated from society. Their number is around 1500.
