Visit India Seashell Museum
If you are in Mahabalipuram then you must visit the Seashell Museum. This beautiful shell museum is located on the outskirts of the city. It has a huge collection of many rocks. These shells include all the possible varieties one can think of.
The world's smallest conch is also present in a part of this museum, which is as small as the size of a grain. There is also a very large collection of shells in the museum.
Walk on the Beaches
When you are going to Mahabalipuram, you should spend some time on the beaches there. Here you can stroll for some time and have a good time. Apart from this, sitting on the beach and watching the setting sun has its pleasure.
Have darshan of five rathas
The Five Rathas, also known as PanchaRathas, are a wonderful group of rock temples. These five chariots are a fine example of the Dravidian style of architecture.
These 7th-century temples are dedicated to the Hindu Almighty and are named after the five hero brothers of the ancient Mahabharata, the Pandavas and their wife Draupadi. These five chariots were buried under sand until they were excavated by the British about 200 years ago.
Shore Temple
If you do not visit the Shore Temple after going to Mahabalipuram, your trip will not be complete. This temple is very popular among tourists. The Shore Temple, built during the 7th century, is one of the oldest South Indian temples built in the Dravidian style.
The temple has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is one of the most photographed monuments in India, located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal.
Crocodile farm
If you want to do something interesting in Mahabalipuram then you should visit Crocodile Farm. It is not located in Mahabalipuram at all. It is about 15-17 km from the quaint town on the east coast road when going from Mahabalipuram towards Chennai.
There are various species of African and Indian crocodiles and some crocodiles. They are kept in pools, which are open and built in such a way that they resemble a natural habitat. If you come here you get a different experience.
