The Home Ministry on Tuesday said that Jammu and Kashmir, which was once considered a 'terrorist destination', has now become a 'tourist destination'. 22 lakh tourists are expected to visit the Union Territory in 2022, which is almost four times more than the previous highest figure.

According to the Home Ministry's 'Year-end Review 2022' released on Tuesday, the number of terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir in 2018 was 417. In 2021, this number has come down to 229. The number of security personnel who were sacrificed in 2018 was 91, but in 2021 the number came down to 42. There is no incident of stone pelting in Jammu and Kashmir now, as the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is firmly moving ahead on the path of development in the Union Territory.
54 percent reduction in terrorist incidents
The ministry said that more than 42,000 people became victims of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and no one thought about it in Delhi, but now under the leadership of Modi, the security forces have tightened their grip on terrorism. There has been a reduction of about 54 percent in terrorist incidents, 84 percent in the sacrifice of security personnel, and about 22 percent in the recruitment of terrorists.
Construction of 63 projects
The ministry said that under the Prime Minister's Development Package for Jammu and Kashmir, about 63 hydroelectric projects have been constructed for Rs 80,000 crore. The Kiru project is in progress for Rs 4,287 crore.
