BulandDarwaza
BulandDarwaza is one of the places to visit in Fatehpur Sikri. This door is the largest in the world, which was built by Emperor Akbar in the year 1602 to commemorate his victory over Gujarat. There is still an inscription in Persian on the eastern arch of the entrance of this door.
JAMA Masjid
The history of Jama Masjid of Fatehpur Sikri is linked to the Mughals. Shahjahan had built it for his daughter Jahanara Begum. Therefore this mosque is also called Masjid-e-Jahanuma. It was constructed in 1648, for which several lakhs of rupees were spent.
This mosque is constructed of red sandstone and decorated with white marble. The tiles used in the wall of the mosque are decorated with geometric shapes. The length of this mosque is 130 feet and the quarter is 100 feet. Wood and brick have also been used in Jama Masjid.
Jodhabai's tomb
The Tomb of 'Mariam-uz-Zamani' was traditionally built by Prince Salim (later Emperor Jahangir) in the name of his mother i.e. Mariam-uz-ZamaniJodha Begum. After assuming power, Jahangir got the tomb of Maryam-uz-Zamani constructed. This mausoleum took four years to build and was completed in the year 1627. For your information, let us tell you that Jodha Begum died in 1623.
Thousands of people come from far and wide to see the beauty of this tomb. If we talk about architecture along with its beauty, then the architecture of this tomb is quite interesting and beautiful. This tomb has been constructed in the middle of the garden.
Know about Fatehpur Sikri
Fatehpur Sikri, located near Agra, is a royal city built in the 16th century. The city embodies the ideals and heritage of the Mughal Empire. It was built by Mughal emperor Akbar in 1571. It is believed that during the rule of the Shunga dynasty in the 12th century and later the SikarwarRajputs, many small and various monuments and forts were built here, which were demolished by Akbar while building Fatehpur Sikri.
How to reach Fatehpur Sikri?
- If you want to go to Fatehpur Sikri by road, then first of all visit Agra. The distance from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri is 40 kilometers.
- If you want to go to Fatehpur Sikri via train, there is Fatehpur Sikri Railway Station. From here you can go for a walk.
- If you want to go in your vehicle, this is the best option. You will reach Fatehpur Sikri from Delhi in 4 hours 37 minutes.
