Dhordo village is famous for its annual RannUtsav. It is a cultural festival showcasing the traditional art, music, dance and crafts of the region. Tourists come every year to see this annual festival and its beauty. During this annual festival, tourists enjoy cultural performances, folk dance and music, camel rides, traditional handicrafts and delicious traditional and local cuisine. Every year the Dhordo annual Ranotsav starts around the last week of October and continues till the third week of February. Although the normal RannUtsav lasts only for three days, the RannUtsav organized in Dhordo lasts for more than 100 days.
PM Modi developed the area as a tourist destination
Only a few years ago, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to develop Dhordo as a tourist destination. Identifying this White Rann of Kutch as a tourist attraction, PM Modi started RannUtsav in Dhordo village by setting up a tent city here in winter. Initially, to promote RannUtsav, PM Modi himself used to participate in this RannUtsav in Dhordo village, the photo of which he has also shared on Twitter.
