1. Tikona Fort
Tikona Fort is very popular for its adventure trails and spectacular views. It is situated near Kamshet, about 60 km from Pune. From the top of this fort, one can see a glimpse of Pavana Dam and Tung, Lohagarh and VisapurGarh. To reach this fort, trekkers pass through TrimbakeshwarMahadev and Satavahana caves. The famous TrimbakeshwarMahadev Temple is also included inside the fort.
2. Rajmachi Fort
If you like outdoor camping or trekking, then you should plan to visit Rajmachi Fort. During the rainy season, from mid-June to mid-October, the region becomes even more beautiful with clouds, waterfalls, lush forests and grasslands. The distance from Lonavala to Rajmachi is 15 km. It takes approximately three and a half hours to cover the distance on this route.
3. Visapur Fort
Surrounded by a huge plateau, it is a historical fort, which is the hallmark of the lush green and mesmerizing mountains of Lonavala. Situated at an altitude of 4,000 feet, this fort is famous for its protective walls and intricate designs. There are caves and water ponds in the fort. There are many temples dedicated to Hanuman here. This shows that the residents were devotees of Hanuman. This fort is slightly higher than Lohagarh Fort. You can do trekking while going to Visapur Fort and see beautiful views on the way.
4. Tunga Fort
Surrounded by Pavana Lake on three sides, this fort is also known as Kathinggarh. If you like trekking then you can go to Tunga Fort. Climbing this fort can be a bit challenging. This fort has a steep climb and a narrow path leads to the fort. There is a 300-meter path from the bottom to the top of Pavana Dam.
5. Lohagad Fort
Lohagarh Fort near Lonavala is one of the most popular hill forts in Maharashtra. This fort is built at an altitude of 1,033 meters above sea level. Especially during the monsoon season, thousands of trekkers come here to see the beautiful views. This place is very famous for the night trek among adventure sports lovers. The best time to visit Lohagarh Fort is during the monsoon season because the weather here looks very beautiful due to the rains.
