The Wankhede Stadium will get new LED floodlights and a revamped hospitality box ahead of the ODI World Cup to be held in India in October-November. Apart from one match of India, there is also a semi-final here. The Wankhede Stadium is one of the five grounds selected by the Cricket Board of India for renovation and refurbishment ahead of the World Cup.

Work has not started yet at Wankhede but tenders have been called for replacement of floodlights. The Wankhede Stadium, the home ground of five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians, saw seven league matches during IPL 2023. Only after this, the work started here.

Mumbai Cricket Association wrote on its website, that sealed tenders have been called for installation of LED floodlights and DMX control at Wankhede Stadium. Along with this, MCA has also invited applications for the decoration of the hospitality box in the stadium. A few more decisions are also to be taken in the MCA Apex Council meeting to be held here on June 30. India won the ODI World Cup after 28 years in April 2011 by defeating Sri Lanka in the final.
