Born on 18 April 1992 in Karnataka, KL Rahul's father is a professor of civil engineering and former director of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in Mangalore and his mother is an associate professor at Mangalore University.
KL Rahul completed his education from NITK English Medium School and St. Aloysius College.
KL Rahul made cricket his passion at the age of ten. During coaching, Rahul played matches for Bangalore United Cricket Club and his Mangalore Sports Club.
In the year 2010, KL Rahul was made a part of Team India in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Talking about first class format, KL Rahul plays Ranji Trophy from Karnataka. He is the first batsman from his state to score a triple century in Ranji Trophy.
International career
KL Rahul made his One Day International (ODI) debut on 11 June 2016 against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club. He became the first Indian to score an ODI century on debut and helped India win the match by nine wickets. Rahul made his T20 International (T20) debut against Zimbabwe on 18 June 2016 at Harare Sports Club.
KL Rahul is only the third Indian batsman to score centuries in all three formats of international cricket. He is the first player in T20 history to score a century while batting at No. 4 position or lower.
He made his Test debut against Australia on 26 December 2014 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
IPL career
He started his Indian Premier League (IPL) career as a wicketkeeper batsman for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2013. After this he captained Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2020 season. KL Rahul joins Lucknow Super Giants in the year 2022
KL Rahul married Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty on 23 January 2023. Athiya is the daughter of film star Sunil Shetty.
