Both Shikhar Dhawan and Ayesha have separated, although the divorce case of both is still going on in court. Ayesha has gone to Australia with her son Zoravar, due to which Dhawan is unable to meet his son. Sometimes both of them meet, although now Dhawan and Ayesha are faces to face regarding Zoravar's custody. Court directs Ayesha Mukherjee, who is living separately from Dhawan, to bring her nine-year-old son to India to attend the cricketer's family function

The court made it clear that the mother alone has no right over the child. Family court judge Harish Kumar also pulled up Ayesha for objecting to bringing the child to India in a recent judgment. The court said that Shikhar's family has not met the child since August 2020. Dhawan-Ayesha are now living separately and have initiated legal cases both in India and Australia (where the child lives with Ayesha) relating to divorce and child custody

The family reunion was initially scheduled for June 17. However, Ayesha objected to bringing the child at that time, as he would not be able to attend school. Thereafter, because the child's school will remain closed during this period, the program has been rescheduled for July 1. Ayesha objected to the rescheduled ceremony arguing that the majority of the family members were not consulted before fixing the date

The court said that the petitioner and his parents would be happy to have the child in front of their eyes. Admittedly, the child of the petitioner has not visited India since August 2020. The judge noted that Ayesha had not been able to provide sufficient grounds as to why she did not want the child to meet the Dhawan family. The court said- why does she not want the child to be repeatedly acquainted with the petitioner's (Dhawan) house and his relatives in India. In these circumstances, when the child is on school leave, the petitioner's (Dhawan) desire to keep the child in India for a few days is justified.
