Shaw may get a clean chit in the controversy between cricketer Prithvi Shaw and social media influencer Sapna Gill. Sapna Gill had accused Prithvi Shaw of molesting her, but the police found Shaw innocent in their investigation. Police told the Magistrate Court on Monday that Sapna Gill's allegations were false and baseless. Sapna had accused Prithvi of molesting her at a pub in Mumbai's Andheri area. The controversy that started by taking a selfie in a pub is now in the court and Prithvi Shaw may be proved innocent. The court adjourned the matter till June 28. Controversy in February
Late night of 15 February, Prithvi Shaw went to a pub with his friends. Sapna Gill also reached here with her friend. Sapna and her friend were drunk and both expressed their desire to take a selfie with Prithvi. Shaw agreed to this and took a selfie, but when both of them asked to take more than one photo, Shaw refused. After this, both got entangled with Shaw. Shaw spoke to the hotel manager and asked the manager Sapna Gill and her friend to move out. However, the real controversy had not yet begun. After dinner, when Shaw came out of the hotel, Sapna Gill and her friend attacked him. His car windshield was also smashed with a baseball bat. The video of this incident also came to the fore.
Prithvi Shaw's friends made him sit in another car and took him home. Whereas, Shaw's friend took the car and started going towards the house. In such a situation, Sapna Gill along with her friends chased Prithvi Shaw's car by car and bike. However, only Shaw's friend was in the car. These people attacked in a car near a U-turn and also demanded Rs 50,000 to settle the matter. After this, Shaw's friend turned the car towards the police station and complained about eight people in the whole case.
Sapna got bail on February 20
After the FIR on behalf of Prithvi Shaw, Sapna Gill's lawyer also accused Prithvi Shaw of drunken molestation. However, the police arrested Sapna Gill and got bail on 20 February. After this, the round of allegations and counter-allegations continued from both sides. During this, Sapna Gill lodged several FIRs in different police stations and remained in the headlines. However, no evidence was ever found against Shaw and the police never arrested him.
What the police found in their investigation
In its investigation, the police examined all the CCTV footage and also recorded statements of eyewitnesses related to the incident. During this, the police found that Sapna Gill and her friend were in an inebriated condition and had an argument with Prithvi Shaw over a selfie. The manager asked both of them to go out and both kept waiting for Prithvi Shaw in the parking lot. When Shaw and his friends came downstairs after having dinner, Sapna Gill and his friends attacked Shaw's car and manhandled him as well. Shaw's friends took them away in a separate car, but Sapna along with her friends followed Shaw's car and also tried to extort money from her friend who was in the car. After this Shaw's friends complained about the whole matter to the police station.
