Sumit Antil Wins Gold Medal Javelin Throw Paralympics 2024: Sumit Antil has won the gold medal in Paris Paralympics 2024. He won the gold by throwing the javelin 70.59 meters in the Men's F64 category and also broke the Paralympic record. Earlier also the Paralympic record was in the name of Sumit, who set a record by throwing the javelin 68.55 meters in the Tokyo Paralympics.
Sumit had set a new record by covering a distance of 69.11 meters in his first attempt. But when Sumit threw the javelin for the second time, this time it fell 70.59 meters away. Sumit has done the feat of breaking the Paralympic record twice in the same match.
Won gold medal for the second time in a row
Sumit Antil won the gold medal in the Tokyo Paralympics with a distance of 68.55 meters. He surpassed the Tokyo Paralympics record three times in this match because apart from the first and second attempts, he also crossed the 69 meter mark in his fifth attempt. Sri Lanka's Dulan won the silver with an effort of 67.03, while Australia's Michael Burian won the bronze medal with an effort of 64.89 meters.

Sumit Antil has become the king of the F64 category of javelin throw. Not only the Paralympics but the world record of this competition is also in his name. He set a new world record by throwing the javelin 73.29 meters away in the 2022 Asian Para Games. He has now become only the second Indian athlete after Avni Lekhara to successfully defend his gold medal at the Paralympics. Both these athletes have been successful in retaining the gold medal in Tokyo and now in Paris Paralympics.
