IPL 2025 Mega Auction: The date of the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been announced. On November 24-25, all IPL teams will bid to choose the cricketer of their choice at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia. Before this, all cricket lovers are eager to know on which players bets are being placed. Player registration for the IPL 2025 Player Auction closed on Tuesday (November 5). After player retention, the IPL teams have space for a total of 204 cricketers, for whom a total of 1,574 cricketers have registered to try their luck. Of these, 1,165 are Indian cricketers, while 409 foreign cricketers have staked a claim.
According to the BCCI, out of the 1,574 players included in the registration
list for the IPL mega auction, only 320 are capped players (cricketers who have played international cricket), while 1,224 uncapped players and 30 players from associate nations have registered themselves for the auction of the world's most premium T20 league.
472 cricketers were part of the last IPL season
Among the players who registered, 472 were part of the 25-member pool of some team in IPL 2024. These include 48 Indian capped players, 272 foreign capped players and 152 Indian uncapped players. Apart from these, there are also 3 uncapped international players who have been a part of IPL at some point in the past. The registration list also includes 965 Indian uncapped and 104 uncapped international players.
Australian players are the most excited
If we take a closer look at the registration list, 409 foreign players have registered, out of which 76 players are from Australia. After that, 71 players from South Africa, 52 from England, 39 from New Zealand, 33 from West Indies, 29 each from Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, 10 players from America have claimed the spot. 13 players from Bangladesh, 9 from Ireland, 4 from Canada, 12 from Netherlands, 8 from Zimbabwe, 2 from Scotland, 1 each from UAE and Italy have registered.
Every IPL team has to make a pool of 25 players
Every IPL team has to make a pool of maximum 25 players. After the retention process, 10 teams have retained 46 players. In such a situation, the teams have 204 slots left for the auction, out of which it is mandatory to select foreign cricketers on 70 slots. Along with the players selected from this bid, the teams will have to show their prowess in the IPL for the next 3 years.

- The teams have spent Rs 558.5 crore to retain 46 cricketers.
- Sunrisers Hyderabad has retained wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen for Rs 23 crore.
- To retain Virat Kohli, Royal Challengers Bengaluru has given him Rs 21 crore.
- Lucknow Super Giants also spent Rs 21 crore to retain Nicholas Pooran.
- Mumbai Indians have acquired 5 famous faces of Team India for just Rs 75 crore.
- Mumbai Indians have retained Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma.

- Each team got a purse of Rs 120 crore. After retention, the teams have Rs 641.5 crore for the auction.
- Punjab Kings has the most amount of Rs 110.5 crore remaining. Along with this, they can RTM 4 capped players.
- Rajasthan Royals has the lowest purse of Rs 41 crore left after retaining 6 players.
- Shahrukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders also has Rs 51 crore left after retaining 6 players.
- Mumbai Indians have Rs 45 crore left. Also, they can RTM an uncapped player.
- MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings has Rs 55 crore left after making one uncapped player RTM.
- Delhi Capitals has Rs 73 crore remaining. Along with this, 2 players have the opportunity to exercise Right to Match (RTM).
- RCB has Rs 83 crore left. Along with this, Virat Kohli's team also has the opportunity to put 3 players on RTM.
- LSG has Rs 69 crore remaining. Along with this, it can retain one capped player through RTM.
- SRH has Rs 45 crore left. Along with this, it will also get a chance to RTM 1 uncapped player.
- Gujarat Titans has Rs 69 crore remaining. They will also get a chance to RTM 1 capped player.
- 00 RTM is now left with KKR and Rajasthan Royals. Both teams have lost their quota in this matter.
