The second match of the five-match Test series between India and Australia is being played in Adelaide. This is a day-night test and is being played with a pink ball. Indian captain Rohit Sharma has returned to this match. During the toss, Rohit announced three changes in the playing-11. Apart from Rohit, Shubman Gill and Ravichandran Ashwin have returned. Captain Rohit came out to bat at number six. That is, he was seen batting in the middle order in a Test after 2193 days. Rohit, however, could not do anything special and was out LBW on Scott Boland's ball. He could score three runs.

A strange coincidence related to Rohit

A strange coincidence has also been associated with Rohit regarding batting in the middle order. The last time he batted in the middle order was also the Adelaide Test. In 2018, the Hitman last batted in the middle order in a Test. Then the Indian team was on a tour of Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy series. The first match of that series was played in Adelaide. The Indian team came out to bat first. Virat Kohli was the captain then. KL Rahul and Murali Vijay opened the innings in that match. At the same time, Rohit came out to bat at number six. That Test was also played from December 6. That is, after 2193 days, now Rohit again batted in the middle order. This is the same batting position where he started his Test batting career.

Rohit last came out in the middle order in 2018

Rohit then batted in the middle order in that Test and scored 37 runs in the first innings and one run in the second innings. Team India lost that Test by 31 runs. However, Cheteshwar Pujara was chosen as the Player of the Match for his excellent batting. Pujara scored 123 runs in the first innings and 71 runs in the second innings. India won this series 2-1. Now that Rohit has come out to bat in the middle order, the Test is still being played in Adelaide and that too from December 6. However, the 2018 Test was not a day-night one.

Yashasvi and Rahul came out to open

Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul came out to open in place of Rohit. However, Team India suffered a setback on the very first ball of the match. Mitchell Starc got Yashasvi out LBW. He could not open the account. After this, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul took the responsibility. At one point, Team India had lost just one wicket for 69 runs. After this, India lost three more wickets in scoring 12 runs. After KL Rahul (37), Virat Kohli (7), Shubman Gill also went to the pavilion. He was out LBW by Scott Boland. He could score 31 runs.
