Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, has been trying to make it to the Indian cricket team for a long time. Now Arjun has been called up by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which is looking for future all-rounders.
Tendulkar has been selected by the BCCI among 20 potential multi-skilled players who can be groomed from domestic to international cricket. Along with other youngsters, Arjun will now undergo a three-week camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Arjun currently plays first-class cricket for Goa and is part of the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL. He made his debut in the recently concluded IPL 2023 season. He is likely to feature in the Emerging Asia Cup (U-23) which is scheduled to be held later this year. The players were shortlisted on the basis of "performance and potential".
Apart from Arjun, other prominent names include Saurashtra and Delhi Capitals star Chetan Sakaria, Punjab left-armer Abhishek Sharma, Goa off-spinner all-rounder Mohit Redkar, Rajasthan's Manav Suthar, Delhi pacer Harshit Rana and medium pacer Divij. Mehra is included.
