New Delhi: Former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi has recently made several serious allegations against former BCCI president, former secretary and Chennai Super Kings owner N Srinivasan on a podcast, including umpire fixing and auction rigging. Modi, who was the founder and commissioner of the IPL between 2008 and 2010, alleged that Srinivasan did not think the franchise league would be successful, but when the T20 competition became a blockbuster, he jumped into it.

He also claimed that Srinivasan used to appoint Chennai umpires for Chennai Super Kings matches, which is a case of conflict of interest and he objected to this. 60-year-old Lalit Modi said- N Srinivasan did not like IPL. He did not think that IPL would not work, but when it started working, everyone joined it. Modi said- He was a member of the board, so he was my biggest opponent. I opposed him.
He said- He did many things. Like umpire fixing and I accused him of it. He used to change umpires and I didn't think twice about it. But then I realised that he was keeping Chennai umpires in Chennai matches, it was a big issue for me. This is fixing, so when I tried to expose him he completely turned against me. Modi also accused Srinivasan of auction fixing. He gave the example of CSK buying English international Andrew Flintoff.
Lalit Modi accuses Srinivasan of UMPIRE FIXING in IPL:
1. Srini anyhow wanted Flintoff in CSK. He was BCCI Sec. We asked all other teams not to bid for him.
2. Srini changed the umpires. He appointed Chennai Umpires in the matches of Chennai Super Kings

He said that the former ICC chairman was ready to include the all-rounder with him and it was an open secret. He said- We rigged the deal and gave Flintoff to Srinivasan. Yes, we did that. There is no doubt about it. Every team knew about it. Srinivasan was not letting the IPL happen. He had become a thorn in our side. Modi further said- Yes, we told everyone not to bid for Flintoff. He said- When you are trying to organize an event like the IPL, and I have done it single-handedly, you need to overcome every obstacle and do what is big for the game.
