BCCI agreed to send both its men's and women's teams to the Asian Games!

The BCCI on Friday approved the participation of men's and women's teams in the Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China in September-October 2023. The Asian Games will be held in China from 23 September to 8 October. BCCI can send a strong women's team and men's B team.

Cricket has been played only twice in the Asian Games. The Indian cricket team did not appear in any edition. India's men's premier team cannot participate in the tournament as the ODI World Cup is to be held on October 5 and the Asian Games end on October 8. The BCCI said in a letter that it would be difficult to field a team in the Asian Games. India will be a strong contender for the gold medals in the men's and women's categories.

This will be the third time that cricket will feature in the Asian Games. Earlier in 2010 and early 2014 this game was given place. Shikhar Dhawan's name is currently being discussed as the captain of India's B-team. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have won one gold medal each in the men's cricket competition and Pakistan has won two gold medals in the women's cricket competition.
