After India's win against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Indian bowler Shardul Thakur has been receiving a lot of praise for his brilliant catches in the match.
Regarding the same, Virat Kohli showed a beautiful gesture by giving the best fielder medal to the Indian bowler.
In a video posted by BCCI on Twitter, Virat can be seen presenting the medal to Thakur with the Indian team present in the dressing room.
In the first innings, Hardik was bowling the fourth ball of the thirteenth over to Afghan batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz. It was a bouncer ball that Gurbaz hit in the air which flew to Thakur.
Thakur tested the ball well and caught it just before the boundary line. But just as he was about to cross the boundary line, he released the ball in the air. To maintain balance, he placed one foot outside the boundary line and then came in to catch the ball and dismissed Gurbaz for 21 runs.
Before Thakur received the Best Fielder medal, Kohli had also received the Best Fielder award from fielding coach T. Dilip for being the best fielder in India's World Cup 2023 opening match against Australia.
Kohli took two catches in the match and became the No. 1 Indian player with the most catches in the ODI World Cup.
India is preparing for their next match against arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday (October 14) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
