To enhance user experience, privacy, and security, WhatsApp frequently upgrades its platforms with new features and security improvements. To accommodate the latest operating systems, all WhatsApp versions, including Android, iOS, and Web, receive new system updates almost monthly. But WhatsApp disables support for new operating systems with new updates as well as support for old or outdated operating systems.
WhatsApp has just announced that from October 24, it will stop supporting phones running Android OS version 4.1 and earlier.

Know what will happen if WhatsApp removes support:
WhatsApp said it will warn users in advance and prompt them to upgrade multiple times. WhatsApp will stop working on a device if it is not updated. As a result, users will not be able to use any WhatsApp functions, including sending text messages or making or receiving calls.

How to check if your smartphone runs on Android OS version 4.1 and older?
You can check the Settings menu on your smartphone to see if it supports Android OS version 4.1 or not. Go to Settings > About phone > Software information. The Version category will include a list of your Android version.
