UP Election: After the announcement of the dates for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections (Uttar Pradesh Elections 2022), the BJP suffered a major setback in the last two days. Similarly, on Wednesday, OBC leader Dara Singh Chouhan resigned from Yogi Adityanath's cabinet.

Dara Singh is the sixth leader to resign in the last two days. However, in the meantime, one Congress MLA and one SP MLA have joined the BJP.

An important meeting of BJP leaders was underway in Delhi over the Uttar Pradesh elections, meanwhile, on Tuesday, Cabinet Minister and senior leader Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from the Yogi Adityanath cabinet.

Apart from this, BJP MLA Avtar Singh Bhadana resigned from the party and joined the National Lok Dal. At the same time, three MLAs who are considered pro-Maurya also announced their resignation.

After Maurya on Tuesday, BJP's Tindwari MLA Brajesh Prajapati, Tilhar MLA Roshan Lal Verma and Bilhaur MLA Bhagwati Sagar also resigned. Meanwhile, Congress MLA Naresh Saini and SP MLA Hari Om Yadav joined the BJP on Wednesday. Hari Om Yadav is a relative of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Uttar Pradesh is the largest state in the country in terms of population. But it is also the most important state politically. Uttar Pradesh's election program has been announced and voting will be held for 403 seats.

The voting process will be completed in 7 stages. Voting will take place on February 10, February 14, February 20, February 23, February 27, March 3 and March 7, respectively. The results for all the seven phases will be announced on March 10.

The term of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly will end on March 14, 2022. Uttar Pradesh has 404 Legislative Assemblies and 100 members in the Legislative Council. Uttar Pradesh is currently ruled by the BJP. The main opposition parties are Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party.

In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the BJP had won 312 seats. The BJP had got 39.67 per cent votes in the election. The Samajwadi Party had won 47 seats and the Bahujan Samaj Party 19 seats. The Congress had won only seven seats.
