According to the report published in Business Today, recently a big Gurugram-based company Paraviom Technologies has become a victim of fraud. By tampering with the payment gateway system, cybercriminals have stolen Rs 35 lakh from the company's account.

Rs 35 lakh was withdrawn from the company's account
Ankit Rawat, head of the company's national operation, has said in the complaint that the company was using Cashfree's payment gateway. Cybercriminals tampered with this payment gateway system and after 35 complete UPI transactions, 35 lakh rupees were stolen from the account. Police have started the action by registering a complaint on this matter.

UPI fraud cases increased
Giving information about the cyber cell of the Union Finance Ministry, it has been told that between the financial year 2022-23, a total of 95,000 such UPI transactions have been done by cybercriminals. National Payments Corporation (NPCI) keeps giving tips from time to time to stay safe from UPI fraud. Earlier, cybercriminals had looted more than 1 crore in Mumbai by making more than 81 people their victims.

Ways to avoid UPI fraud-
To avoid UPI fraud, keep in mind that always not share your personal information like mobile number, bank account number, OTP, PIN etc. with anyone.
Note that you do not need to enter a PIN to receive money. The PIN has to be entered only for transferring money.
While making a UPI payment, keep in mind that before transferring money to someone, do not forget to verify his details.
