In the Lok Sabha elections starting in Bihar in 2024, senior BJP leader and former Deputy CM Sushil Modi, 72, will not be seen in the party's campaign. This was disclosed by the politician himself on April 3 through social media 'X'. He said that he is suffering from cancer and has been struggling with this deadly disease for the last 6 months.

According to media reports, a person close to Sushil Modi has confirmed that he is suffering from throat cancer. This cancer has spread to other parts of the body and has reached the lungs. Due to this politicians are not able to speak properly. Although the treatment of this cancer is possible, but for, its identification is necessary at the initial stage itself. Once it starts spreading, it becomes almost impossible to avoid it.

Sushil Modi's cancer has reached this stage

According to Memorial Solon Kettering Cancer Center, throat cancer in its 4th stage starts spreading to areas far away from its initial point. This mainly involves the lungs. Although the process of spreading of tumor starts from stage 3 itself, at this stage it reaches only the organs around the neck like lymph nodes. That means it reaches the metastatic stage.

Can Metastatic Cancer be Cured

According to Cancer.net, in some circumstances, metastatic cancer can be cured. But most metastatic cancers can only be slowed and symptoms can be reduced with treatment. However, it is possible to survive for several months or years with some types of cancer even after the development of metastatic disease.

What are the chances of survival in 4th-stage cancer?

According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), once throat cancer reaches stage 4, the chances of survival become very low. Only 39.1 percent of the total patients are able to survive for 5 years.
